This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students in my classroom are learning 7th grade math and Math 1 (HS credit). They are always pushed to reach their highest performance. With providing educational equity in mind, students are held to high expectations and provided with assignments that meet grade level standards.
The school is comprised of a diverse student body.
We are a school that implements the personalized learning model where students identify their mastery level and take ownership of their learning to show growth.
They would benefit from having classroom materials that encourage excitement and engagement while learning.
My Project
Students will be able have less chair noise with the chair socks. Less noise can promote collaboration and academic conversations within diverse groups.
They will be able to read articles in Scholastic MATH related to the subject area and maybe connect to previous topics.
Some magazines may help to answer the questions: Why does this matter? and, In what career will we need this information?
Students can enjoy a cozy seating area with my current bean bag chairs on a STEM rug /mat that brings in the outdoors. Having the opportunity to sit hear can encourage students to stay engaged.
