Technology is all around us. We are asked to prepare our youngest students for the world around them. Please help us provide the resources necessary to emerge them into technology.
We are a high poverty school in the Midwest.
Our students have behavioral and academic challenges that prevent them from being in the typical regular education setting. We are a self-contained behavior program that focuses on academic and social skills. Our classroom has students in kindergarten through second grade.
My Project
We have 150 Chromebooks for a school of 450 students to share on a scheduled basis. Unfortunately, the Chromebooks are not usually available at the best time for our schedule. I have worked hard to get our classroom 1:1 technology with iPads and Chromebooks. We were right on track with one extra in anticipation of adding one more student. Guess what? We added two students, now we are one short. This Chromebook, with headphones and mouse, would allow us to each have our own Chromebook. By having their own, they are easily logged on and ready to learn. Each student has their own personal websites bookmarked for quick access. This allows more time for learning.
They will be able to utilize the Chromebook for science, reading, writing, social studies, and math.
We will soon begin our research projects. Chromebooks will open the world of knowledge without leaving our classroom. Technology is embedded into daily learning; the more access we have, the better the chance of success for our students.
