it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My fourth grade class ran out of pencils today! All that's left are pencils with missing erasers, which makes it very difficult to fix mistakes.
Having access to 1,000 pencils will guarantee my class has enough pencils for the rest of the year, and the cap erasers will be placed on their pencils so students will always have the ability to erase work.
We are not provided with enough pencils to make it through the school year. The pencils we do get are allocated in limited quantities. In the past, I've used my own money to purchase pencils, which should be a basic supply provided to all teachers (not something we need to purchase). With your kind donation, my class will be stocked with enough pencils to write with during the school day.
Students use pencils every day during all subjects (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies). Pencils and erasers are basic supplies that students need access to every day. Students are taking their state tests soon, which are standardized and require the use of sharp pencils with intact erasers.
My students will respect their new supply of pencils. The small erasers on the top of their pencils usually disappear within a week due to standard use. By having the option of using "cap erasers," students will be able to get more use out of their eraser, which would be very beneficial to their achievement in class. Having an eraser allows them to quickly fix their mistakes instead of wasting time looking for another pencil with a fully intact eraser.
Finally, for a frame of reference, a pack of 500 pencils usually lasts me a half a year. I predict that your donation would last until mid-year 2025 because they are very high quality and last a long time.
