Experiencing high school can evoke every emotion: fear or joy, angst or optimism, and sometimes all of these at once! Our classroom is a great place to begin learning about the outside world and how to be the best person possible in it. Each student is unique, from young athletes and artists to students with individual learning plans and young leaders. We're the fourth most diverse high school in the nation, and it shows in my classes!
My students are immersed in a journey that will culminate in college, leadership, citizenship, and life.
I want to prepare them to be the best readers they can possibly be, the kindest friends they wish they had, and heroes that their families and friends can be proud to know. High school can be difficult, but this is our chance to start on the right path. We hope to start the fall fully stocked and ready to take on the world!
My Project
We love to read, but since we re-use the same books year after year we need a way to annotate that is respectful to students in the future. Imagine my excitement when I learned that we can ask for ten literal pounds of Post-it notes. Every student will have the chance to make notes and to make sense of our readings.
We know that real cognitive growth occurs when students interact with texts.
These materials will help every student engage with our texts and will help our students who have difficulty reading stay organized and accountable. I am so excited to help students read, learn, and grow.
