My students need 45 keypads to help them in conquering the challenges associated with learning how to navigate technology for the Common Core Standardized Test.
This project expired on June 1, 2014.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Hello! A typical day in my classroom consists of writing, reading novels, literature groups and team activities, math using an interactive whiteboard and manipulatives, a lot of science and social studies and technology when possible. My students also use computer programs daily.
My student population consists of 85% Latino, 10% Vietnamese and 5% Pilipino.
I work in the urban east side of San Jose, California. We have 100% free and reduced lunch at our school. Our school would be considered lower socioeconomic status. My students are awesome! They love to learn and are very positive in their educational endeavors. Technology is one area they all are very interested in as we live in the Silicon Valley and they all have goals of becoming "millionaires!"
We recently got a laptop cart to share with our grade level. One of the new programs we have is called Typing Agent. This program helps the students work on their typing skills and one of the units contains a "10 key" section. Laptops do not have this but it is important for students to have access to 10 key pads for Math. We are unsure of what the new Common Core Test will entail but I thought it best to get the students as much typing practice as possible!
I have high hopes that these 10 key pads will help students become more comfortable navigating the new mandated skill of typing.
Thus helping them to focus on the questions associated with the CCSS "Smarter Balanced" exam more than where the right keys are to type their answers.
