This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of the most essential techniques that art students should learn is 1-point and 2-point perspective drawing. Perspective drawing is a technique to create the linear illusion of depth. As objects get further away from the viewer they appear to decrease in size at a constant rate. The box in the sketch below appears solid and three-dimensional due to the use of perspective.
The project that I am planning on teaching is to have my students create a 1-point perspective bedroom and a 2-point perspective city corner scape.
Perspective is the art and mathematics of realistically depicting 3-D objects in a 2-D plane, sometimes called centric or natural perspective to distinguish it from the bicentric perspective. The study of the projection of objects in a plane is called projective geometry.
I really want to encourage a lifelong love of art. I think it is important to allow my students access to knowing possible jobs in art. Perspective in the architectural drawing is the representation of three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional (flat) surface. This recreates the position of the observer relative to the object and shows the depth of the object.
This project will allow my students to have the color pencils needed to make this art piece happen. I truly believe that art can heal the soul and this year it has been so important to me to show my students that art can be a place to go when they are struggling.
