Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have just recently begun reading, telling time, counting money, and many other necessary skills needed to be successful both in and out of school and they are demanding to learn much more using interactive games on an iPad.
I am a special education teacher in a Chicago Public School located in the Little Village community, with 99% Hispanic and 98% low income students that receive free breakfast and lunch.
I have 15 students in grade levels 2-4, with 14 boys and 1 girl and my amazing paraprofessional that I could not teach without.
My Project
My students have a range of different needs such as mood disorders, ADHD, Autism, and learning disorders that all require visual stimulation for learning success. iPads are amazing tools with many different apps to help students learn. Visual calendars for students with autism, speech practice for students with speech needs, sentence building, reading, and math apps all help promote student learning.
If we were to receive funds for this iPad, case and protection plan, it will ensure my students' learning will continue to grow with the help of interactive apps to keep them engaged in whatever they do at school.
