My Students

I teach 3rd grade at a new school where over 80% of my students come from low-income households. My 3rd graders are not only at a new school, but are the oldest grade of leaders at our school.

My students are be leaders, mentors, and role models for the rest of the students at our school.

My school strives to create a safe, joyful, and kind school experience for each and every student. Each one of my students comes from a different background, and has had various experiences making them a unique individual with a unique learning style. Despite their various learning styles and needs, my students each deserve the best instruction, materials, and opportunities to learn and grow. This year I strive to give each student a specialized learning opportunity that best fits their needs and learning style.

My Project

With a classroom full of hands-on learners, we are in great need of a space to draw, manipulate, and visualize our learning. With a magnetic dry erase easel we can use our magnetic letters and numbers to help us grow in reading and math. Most recently we have been thinking about comparing fractions, with a magnetic dry erase easel students can use our magnetic fraction strips to explain their thinking to their classmates and grow a deeper understanding for difficult math concepts.

With this dry erase easel my students will be giving the chance to share their thoughts and ideas with the class and learn from one another.

With the dry erase easel students will learn how to collaborate, respectfully disagree, listen and share ideas with others while still learning academic material.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
