This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a bright and active group of five and six-year-old children. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together, which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day.
We grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps us in so many ways. We get noisy, but we learn so much together. We need supplies to grow as readers, writers, and illustrators. We need to show the colors of our ideas. There is so much to learn.
My Project
Kindergarten is a time of exploration, games and fun. It is also a time to build foundations of great growth. Manipulatives like these we are requesting will support our transition from concrete exploration to Mental Math.
In kindergarten, we need to move objects as we count, add and subtract.
These basic skills need to become automatic. With these objects, we will get to move bears, animals and other counters as we explore Math facts.
We will use these stamp pads to create patterns to match numerals provided. We have number stampers, so with these new stamp pads, we will be able to show so much more of what we know!
