Nonfiction Text Study Through Current Events
My students need 22 subscriptions to TIME for Kids magazine.
Subscriptions to current events publications are not included in our school budget, and can be difficult for most of our families to afford.
I teach third grade students in an inter-district magnet school in Connecticut.
My students are from urban and suburban communities, and come to school with wonderfully diverse backgrounds. They are curious and eager to learn about the world they live in.
My students are very motivated to learn about current events in the world. I am requesting 22 subscriptions to TIME for Kids. With monthly deliveries of TIME For Kids, my students will be in-the-know about current news, and I will have a great resource for teaching about the features of nonfiction publications.
Your donation would help my students have high-quality and motivating materials for learning to navigate nonfiction text.
I believe that this will help to give them the literacy skills needed for reading nonfiction in the content areas as they move to upper grades and beyond.
