This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Did you have the opportunity to play a musical instrument in school? My students have a dream. They dream of playing in their own school orchestra.
I teach students from PreK through 5th grade.
They are energetic, outgoing children who love music. they have an extremely healthy curiosity about stringed instruments. which they long to play some day. My students attend a title 1 elementary school located in the inner city.
My Project
I can't tell you how much excitement two violas and a violin would create in our school! My students have been asking for violins and violas for two years now and I think they have waited long enough. These instruments will play an integral part in developing the talents of young students today and for years to come.
Music is a necessary part of every child's education.
It exposes the child to new ways of thinking and improves math and reading scores. Learning to play an instrument increases a child's chances of graduating from high school, and continuing on to college.
