Projecting our learning is what my class needs to stay focused on the great things I will be teaching them. Since our school cannot have a computer lab due to the age of the building and the building being on swamp land, I have to bring technology into my classroom. Specifc units that will be enhanced through the use of the projector are in the subject of Science for Human Health, Living Things, Energy, Matter, Rocks, Solar System, Motion and Weather. Some examples of activities that this resource will make possible are projection of academic videos, power points, simulation sites and live chats with experts. My students' education will be enhanced through special projects created by the state and district that enrich and reinforce all the state benchmarks they need to over exceed for 3rd grade. Some lessons require examination of salt crystals and dramatization of atoms, which cannot always be done in a hands-on manner due to limited materials. A projection showing live experiments from the internet would be the next best thing. This projector will greatly benefit my class since I have limited funds after Hurricane Katrina and need the quickest way to reach their style of learning. I teach 3rd grade and all the subjects throughout the day. I have students with learning disabilities that keep technology-rich instruction as my priority because of its positive effects. This projector would greatly assist me in teachinng skills and concepts across the curriculum. I have 22 students who love technology but are in a school that lacks the funds for it. This experience would encourage their interest in learning each day.
