My students need art supplies for our competitions like poster boards, tri-folds, markers, and other supplies for the students to express their creativity.
The robotic competitions that my students enter, required poster boards, presentation boards and much creativity to win various parts of the competition. It is where the students try to promote their robots at the competitions.
Our school is very diversified with the students coming from 50+ countries.
Most receive free or reduced lunch. Most of the students don't have access to art supplies at home. This is where I can help expand their creative side, while at the same time the students learn how to express themselves now and in the future in what ever endeavor they want to get into.
My Project
My students compete in two different robotic competition each year. In both of the competitions the students have to produce posters displaying their robotic building process through pictures and drawings. They also have to make up presentation boards where they have to give oral presentations to the judges. These supplies will help the students produce quality products.
This is an after program that introduces students into STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) instead of hanging out on street corners.
Since I have been teaching robotics I have seen many of my students go on to engineering courses in college which makes me proud that I had an impact on their future career goals.
