Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My students need to have visuals to better understand the difficult concepts of the Human Body - i.e where are the kidneys in relation to the liver? What is the difference between a vein and an artery? These are a few examples of the types of questions my students ask me when we talk about the human body. As a teacher, the main reason I am writing this proposal is because I want to do all that I can to help my students be successful. But when you are faced with a situation in which teachers are not given enough funds nor supplies you get disgruntled. I want to assist my students with the learning of the major body systems; major organs & their functions; and how the systems are interrelated. I am confident when I say that the Mini Torso is an excellent resource for my students. Using my own body as a reference is finally starting to make me feel uncomfortable. I am hoping that the purchase of 8-10 mini torsos from Lakeshore Learning center will benefit my students tremendously! The models will assist me for the entire semester, and more importantly, it will help students to better understand the important parts of the body. I only hope that someone will be able to help fund this proposal.
