My students need a LCD projector in order to better understand the subjects we're learning.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. M.'s classroom raised $878

My Students
My students love hearing about and seeing subjects and cultures they've never been exposed to, but they can't always afford field trips or use computer technology outside of the classroom.
This year 25 third graders fill my Title I public school classroom in Georgia.
They are almost all on free or reduced lunch plans. My class has big goals. I have aspiring soldiers, scientists, football players, doctors, lawyers, and aspirations they haven't even dreamed of or have been exposed to yet. They unanimously voted to be able to think, write, and speak like 5th graders by the end of their 3rd grade year. They always want to be helpful in some sort of way.
They enjoy competing with each other and participating in engaging and interactive lessons. They love experiments and hearing about places far away from their city. They need continued motivation and engagement so that they maximize their learning time this year and make their goals.
In our classroom, they are called "Mountain Movers" after Dr. Seuss's "Oh, The Places You'll Go!" because they are going to move mountains, whether it is achieving their dream career, growing two years in reading, or being resilient learners.
My Project
Most of all, my students like seeing examples of what they're learning. There are field trips that would allow the students to experience America at the time of the Revolutionary War, or traipse through areas of Georgia that model the habitats they will be studying. Some field trips are not within our means, but virtual field trips can step in and, at times, even show more.
When learning about Paul Revere, they would love being able to see an interactive map of colonial Boston. They could watch videos of experiments using materials we do not have. Many sites have interactive videos with games that the kids could play to compete against each other. Many students came into my classroom below level in reading and benefit from visual representations of the subjects they're learning to supplement their regular instruction. Finally, the projector could be used to expose them to places they've never seen.
Your donations to a classroom projector could be used to enhance instruction and engagement in our classroom.
Our school district requires technology integration in lessons because it exposes students to technology as well as engages students, but resources are limited. It's hard to show great videos without a projector. The students could be exposed to so many more resources, cultures, and ideas if I could show them the great videos and sites available and project them onto the board.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
