Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a 9th and 10th grade English teacher. I teach at a high-needs school. The student body is 99% African-American and a majority of our students qualify for free and reduced meals.

My students need to read books that will engage them. They do not have many, if any, books that are their own.

I am requesting 25 copies of the book The Blind Side for my students. If students have a 95% or higher attendance rate I will allow them to keep the book as an incentive.

You will make it possible for me to engage my students in reading and reward them for coming to school on time and ready to learn.
