it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help students from a poor area compete in the national Science Olympiad competition.
I am a Science Olympiad coach and 8th grade middle school science teacher. My school is a public school located in an under privileged neighborhood in New York state.
Science Olympiad is a national competition for middle and high school students. We are the only public school from our under-privileged community to compete in the New York region. Unlike many of our affluent competitors, we lack the resources to adequately prepare our students. However, we have the motivation and the drive to succeed and we will work hard to represent our community.
We need field guides, ornithology and fossil identification books, to prepare for the test-based competitions. Our students will use the field guides to review common genera of birds and fossils that are tested during the competition.
Your help will ensure that our students have the resources to compete with the best private and public schools in the New York region. Last year we placed 15th out of 21 schools; with your support this year, we'll place in the top 10.
