I teach a 2nd grade class in a high-needs, low economic school community. This year, I have several ELL's (English Language Learners) in my classroom that are emergent readers. These students are so eager and excited to be in our classroom and want to be part of the reading activities.
WE NEED BOOKS!!!!
Currently, my classroom library meets the needs of my students who can read without assistance. My ELL's are constantly picking up books in an effort to read. However, their attempts are often halted because my library has a limited amount of books that are on the emergent reading level, often resulting in frustration on their part as well as mine!

My students need decodable readers that they can grab and practice using reading strategies that have been taught to them. Scholastic decodable readers provide extensive phonic instruction while also providing practice with leveled readers. The kit consists of 100% controlled text, while systematically introducing new vocabulary. Text increases gradually in difficulty, reviewing sound-spelling and grammar elements as they incorporate newly acquired skills. The kit also provides vocabulary support by reviewing critical words at the back of every book.
Through your support, my students will have over 80 books at the fingertips to choose from rather than reading the same text over and over. Help my English Language Learners acquire language effectively whilst building a love for reading!
