Breaking Through Knowledge Barriers

My students need headphones because we do many projects on the computers and many times are watching podcasts that require the students the use of headphones.

I currently teach "High-Tech" US History in the 8th grade, but the problem is that the "high-tech" part is hard to do when the headphones that we are provided do not work.

Now many people would say, "Well why don't your students bring their own headphones?" Well they would if their families could afford new headphones. The problem is that many of the students can barely afford the supplies that are essential for school everyday.

What would really be great is if we were able to be given 30 headphones. This would solve the problem of students not having headphones that work on a daily basis. It is a big struggle when I have created a podcast and the students are having a hard time hearing what is being said during the presentation.

The funding of this project would be great for my students. I would be able to effectively use technology to access their ability to learn. In a recent edition of NEA magazine it speaks about how through the use of podcasts students will retain 60% more the material that is presented. With a classroom set of headphones the comprehension of my students will be improved. Thanks.
