Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Math to 6th graders from a West Texas town. This school is over 75% economically disadvantage. My class is filled with a diverse group of students. Their are students with very strong family and community ties, as well as those without.

Most of my students can not afford to bring materials for projects and fun activities. Their parents send the students with just enough to do the necessary daily activities.

The students will need flesh toned paper to make their Mini Me. To decorate their dolls the students will need patterned paper and other decorative elements. I would like to do these project to give my students the ability to let other see who they are. This activity allows them to share themselves without feeling vulnerable.

You will make it possible for my students to find their self worth as well as the worth of others. This activity can help them to relate to the other student and feel that it is okay to be who they are inside.
