This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach math. My students are in seventh grade, and the school that I teach at is a critical needs school in the south.
There are limited supplies and funding available for teachers in this school district. Often teachers are given a room with desks and nothing else. The supplies being requested are supplies to help with displays of student work and visual aids for students.
I am asking for basic supplies. I'm asking for markers so that my students will be able to display their work. I am also asking for chart paper so that steps like adding and subtracting integers may be recorded and displayed on the classroom walls as a visual aid to my students.
You will make it possible for my students to display their work and be proud of their accomplishments. We have been working hard on fractions and integers, and I would like to give them a chance to show what they have learned.
