My students need basic school supplies like paper, pens, pencils, glue, Kleenex, and scissors.

This project is fully funded

The students that I teach come from low socio-economic backgrounds. The majority of the students receive free or reduced lunch. One of the courses that I teach is Education for Careers. The course is designed to assist students with obtaining skills that are needed through out life. They learn to make meaningful decisions about their careers and life choices. Students will be prepared to determine their personal weaknesses as they relate to career from school to work. Students will have the opportunity to meet career practitioners, conduct career research as well as other opportunities as they present themselves. The second course that I teach is GEE Social Studies. This course covers all of the Social Studies disciplines. This courses prepares students for our states high stakes test that they need to graduate. A lot of projects and manipulative's are involved. This reinforces what the students learn.

Our students come to school without supplies. This is even more so since Hurricane Katrina. Parents are trying to rebuild their homes. Our school district is new and has a low budget. I as well as other teachers have to buy basic supplies and are not reimbursed. Having supplies make the differences in students lives. They feel better and performance goes up.

My students really need the classroom basics. They need pencils and construction paper, index cards and chart paper. They need these things for their daily work, and also for engaging projects. They even need things like Kleenex to keep them healthy when they are in school. Most of the supplies allow the students to use their creative processes. Not only do they hear but they see what they are learning. It allows movement also, which cuts down on discipline.

These students want to learn. These supplies will just give them more opportunities. Lack of financing will not be an obstacle to their learning. Thank you for helping.
