The school I work at is made up of students that feeling safe is being at school. I try to make my classroom a family and all families need dreams. My third graders have lived more of a life than most adults have and I just hope to make their life a little easier from 7:30-3:30.
At our school we have little to no materials for social studies or science. It is up to the teacher or teachers to come up with supplemental materials to teach these lessons to our students.
In the past I have made planets out of paper mache and looked NASA up online for my students, anything that students can touch and feel really brings it to reality. Giving students multiple ways to learn helps all teachers reach different types of learners. My students need materials that will bring the outer space into their space. With the movies they can watch, the model they can touch and the cards they can read I just know that traveling out of our world will be at their finger tips.
