Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I work in an inner city Chicago public school. I presently have 27 students in my classroom, 3 of which are blind. Our school recently received a new reading program. The new program is great and includes many wonderful activities and centers. One of the centers I would like to be able to use is a listening center. In this center the students would be able to listen to the stories on tape/cd. Being able to do this will help them with their reading fluency and word knowledge. Another way that this reading center would be used in my classroom is in Science and Social Studies. For my blind students, the only way they get the information is if someone reads it aloud to them. I am not able to do this more that once because of time. Having this center would increase the amount of times that these three would hear the information. We do have a blind program at our school so I will have blind students every year.
