I teach math and Chemistry at the Bushwick School for Social Justice, a new school in the old Bushwick High building. I also am a certified yoga instructor with a daily yoga practice at Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in Chelsea. Finally, I have background in rape crisis counseling and social services. Over the past year, I have begun to take various students to my yoga classes in Manhattan after school. The yoga center has agreed to allow them to come for a discounted price, and I took approximately 20 children last year at my own expense. All students were from the Bushwick neighborhood and loved the experience of going into the city, as well as the yoga itself, the kindness of the teachers, and the nice sights and smells of the yoga center. This year I am determined to start my own yoga program at the school. I am looking for the following 1) Enough money to take a class of 15 students to yoga in the city at least twice 2) Enough money for yoga props to allow me to start my own after school classes I have several students who come from foster homes, are victims of past abuses, or have families far away in the Dominican republic. All of these students have loved yoga and seemed to find some relaxation and stress relief. Help me start a yoga program in the Bushwick School for Social Justice!!!!
