Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

The Poetry lounge is ready for two snaps. Students love to hear and write poetry. They will enjoy performing their poems for their peers. In order to assist them with creating and writing poetry, they would benefit tremendously from having the opportunity to read and listen to a variety of published poems in our poetic lounge. They can create their own poems in an environment that is comfortable which would allow them to be creative in their writings. As a sixth grade language arts teacher it is fundamental to allow students to write in a variety of forms. I teach at a school where 90% of the students receive free or reduced lunches. My students will appreciate being able to lounge on cozy furniture and flip through an array of poetry books to spark their thinking. I want the students to have an opportunity to experience poetry as a creative outlet in writing to express their feelings and thoughts.
