I Just Want To Learn Too!

My students need 9 interactive learning center items such as "Froggy Phonics: Beginning and Ending Consonants and Blends", a Sequence Builder, and the MAILBOX math and reading file folder games to enhance their comprehension and provide modifications to their learning throughout the school week and weekends.

FULLY FUNDED! Dr. Woods's classroom raised $183

This project is fully funded

My teacher made Crayola based center activities are already becoming boring to my students. They are becoming uninterested in the now floppy laminated squares that they have to use to sharpen their skills from my instruction. It's time to show my students how to have some serious, hands-on interactive fun. I teach second grade to 25 wonderfully talented students in Southeast, Washington, D.C. Unfortunately they are feeling a bit left out due to low test scores when compared to the other second grade class within our school. I always inform them that they are "very smart but they learn a bit differently". They are determined to not let their learning disability deter them from maintaining grade level expectations. What kind of teacher would I be not to keep the momentum going? My school is located in a high risk poverty environment and parents are not able to afford extra materials to help their children succeed. They are barely able to have their child come to school with their full uniform let alone have time to work with their children after school and on the weekends due to working. My students would benefit from interactive games to be used in our learning centers to enhance their concepts of skills that I have taught in class in reading and math. My students are not able to quickly grasp the material that I present and are in constant need of reinforcement. The Mailbox Learning Center and Math File Folder Center contains over 20 activities that once laminated, will be used over and over again. Students will be able to benefit by working individually or with a partner to practice skills in which they are required to become proficient. Sequence Builder Red Level as well as the single step block will remind students about the importance of sequence while practicing reading strategies. Froggy Phonics encompasses cooperation and teamwork as students form groups to make the appropriate consonant blends. Also, the Wooden Counting Frame will provide increase of number sense as well as quantity representations. My students and I know that they are capable of producing grade level work. We just need an extra push towards our learning!
