I would like to send small tape recorders home with my students to help with remediation. I teach kindergarten and some kindergartners have a hard time at school keeping up with the class work. When work is sent home for these students, parents do not always help get the work completed. If I had small tape recorders that I could send home with students to act as tutors, then these students could listen to the taped messages and work on their homework and the area/s that they need special help with on their own and at their own pace. They could also listen to these messages more than once. I could also send books home with these students. I also have had several students that have English as their second language. These students will surely benefit. I would need about 12 tape players and 24 blank tapes to send home with students weekly. I also would like to send home books with the students to help them with our Take Home Reading Program. I would need a classroom library for this. My students would benefit from this experience because they would get the remediation they need, their self-esteem would flourish, and they would be able to understand what is going on in the classroom better.
