This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a large inner city school and am requesting five new globes to share among the 700 plus students in our building.
We have no current globes or maps in our school. Our globes and maps are so old they show the U.S.S.R. as a country. Some of our globes even show a divided Germany. It is very difficult for children to understand that a country doesn't exist if it is still listed as a country on classroom maps and globes.
With the five requested globes our 700 plus students would be able to share the globes and be empowered to locate and identify current countries, not countries that no longer exist.
