Storybooks are kindergartners' first step towards traditional reading. After reading books several times, children start to fall in love with books and memorize the stories. As they read and re-read books, they begin to connect the words to the pictures, this is their first step to reading independently. These steps help students build confidence around reading and develop a curiosity for more books to read. Due to virtual learning last year, my class has not received back all of our emergent storybooks and is now short on the number of books we have for students this year. The lack of books has slowed down the process for my students this year to get the full experience of FALLING IN LOVE WITH READING! Please, help my students get the reading experience they deserve and build that will help shape the readers they will become.
