People of all walks of life often meet in a warm, welcoming, and safe space, to share stories, exchange good news, or to just enjoy the presence of their friends. In our classroom, this warm, welcoming, and safe space will be our classroom carpet, which is used many times throughout the day to share work, engage in read alouds, celebrate success, and to discuss topics and ideas that contribute to the development of kind and compassionate citizens. On this carpet we will dive in an ocean of shared experiences that encourage us to empathize and learn from each others perspectives.
