They have also had so much fun playing jacks, which has been a great way to introduce them to a classic game while encouraging coordination, patience, and friendly competition.\r\n\r\nThe students have also loved the MAGNA-TILES! They have created so many unique and imaginative designs in our classroom. It has been wonderful to watch them plan, build, problem-solve, and share their creations with their classmates. These activities have given students an opportunity to be creative, work together, and use their imaginations while having fun.\r\n\r\nWhat a great way to beat the heat and still be creative! These activities have made our indoor days much more enjoyable and have provided meaningful opportunities for creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and, most importantly, lots of smiles and laughter.\r\n\r\nWe are especially grateful to the Deer Creek Foundation for giving back to our schools and investing in our students. Having their own headphones allows students to listen to directions, read along with digital texts, and receive individualized instruction without distracting their classmates. This has been especially helpful for students who benefit from hearing information explained aloud or who need a quieter environment to concentrate. My students were so excited to have headphones that were available specifically for their learning, and it has helped make our technology time more productive and engaging.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping us create more opportunities for them to learn independently and confidently. When my students first saw them set up in the room, they were immediately drawn to the baseplates, asking when they would get a turn to use them and instantly coming up with ideas for what they wanted to build. Having a dedicated, sturdy surface instead of working on the floor gives them a clean space to gather, collaborate, and test out complex ideas.\r\n\r\nThese tables will be used primarily for open-ended free builds, giving my GT students the creative freedom they thrive on. High-ability learners need unstructured time to experiment, take risks, and push their spatial reasoning skills without rigid instructions. During free build sessions, the tables will act as a collaborative design hub where students can test structural integrity, negotiate design ideas with peers, and stretch their critical thinking skills through self-directed play.\r\n\r\nOur next step is setting up a regular weekly schedule for free build time and introducing open challenges—like seeing who can build the tallest self-supporting tower or the most balanced bridge—that students can attempt during their free builds.
