Next 4 Years was born from a prior educational charity endeavor, J&H Hood, where the founders looked to establish a local tutoring network in exchange for donations throughout the local educational communities via DonorsChoose.org. Next 4 Years (N4Y) is a similar concept, a mentoring network that provides college application advice to local communities and in return receives donations to be allocated to various projects on DonorsChoose. Next 4 Years was born from a prior educational charity endeavor, J&H Hood, where the founders looked to establish a local tutoring network in exchange for donations throughout the local educational communities via DonorsChoose.org. Next 4 Years (N4Y) is a similar concept, a mentoring network that provides college application advice to local communities and in return receives donations to be allocated to various projects on DonorsChoose. From interacting with High School Students, we’ve noticed that many students with excellent credentials (high school grades/ standardized tests/extracurriculars/etc.) do not always get into their ideal schools. N4Y believes that this is due to two factors– Picking the right school and marketing the right way during application. With the mentorship network, N4Y will look to establish a network of people who have been through the process and provide to aspiring college applicants information/guidance on how to select the right schools (including setting up information interviews with alumni) and how to market yourself during apps (with essays, interviews, etc.). hide
