I teach band in a rural K-8 school. We never have problems getting trumpets or saxophones in the band, but low orchestra instruments such as trombones or tubas have been almost nonexistent at our school for the past ten years. I was able to get several trumpeters interested in playing the baritone.The only problem is that I have just that one baritone, instead of four or more.Our top-heavy sounding band would be a lot more balanced if we could get some more baritones to balance out the sound. An Amati baritone can be purchased through "Woodwind and Brasswind" (www.wwbw.com) for under $900. hide
