Since Robin & Debbie have not heard from anyone about doing the stockings, I wondered if anyone would be interested in another charitable gift from our department for the holidays. I read in the Charlotte paper about a really neat organization that is called DonorsChoose.org. It is a website that teachers can go on and request money for special projects for their students. I have had many friends and family members that teach in public schools and it’s amazing how many of them buy their own materials for their kids even at a teacher’s salary. Some of the requests are very small, like $100.00 and a lot of them are in high-poverty schools. We can give any amount to any project. If anyone would be interested in contributing a gift from our department, I’d be glad to spearhead. I can collect the money until December 19th and then go online and donate it.
