  • Tales of an Empty Fourth Grade Library

    Funded Mar 17, 2010

I wanted to take this opportunity to express just how grateful myself and the students in Room 209 are for your generous donations. Our library is so neatly organized and easily accessible for all students.

The students in Room 209 seem to have found a new love of reading and a newly discovered sense of pride. When they saw the boxes of materials, each and every one of them wanted to help put our new library together. Besides introducing students to new literature, this library has built a strong sense of community in our room since everyone had a chance to build it as a team.

Thank you for allowing Room 209 the opportunity to read literature they may not have otherwise been introduced to and in a setting that is neat, organized, and easy to keep tidy. Also, a huge thank you for bringing this class together and creating an even stronger sense of community! We are forever grateful!

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richards

  • The Library is Dying!

    Funded Feb 11, 2010

Thank you so much for purchasing our new library books. Students and teachers are really enjoying the great new novels you have provided for our reading enjoyment. Most of the books purchased were books students had specifically requested, so they were checked out immediately.

Funding was nominal this year and rumors of no money for the library are swirling. Because of people like you, we will continue to provide reading and research materials for our students.

We thank you from the bottom of our heart for your generous donation and saving the library!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Price

  • Help update our library! Our kids love "Goosebumps"

    Funded Feb 3, 2010

I cannot fully express how thankful the students and I are for your donation to our school library. As a reading teacher and librarian, I know how important books are in the life of a child. They open doors and feed the imagination. In addition, the ability to read well affects all areas of a student's academic performance.

When I first took over the library this past fall, I was disappointed to discover how old and inadequate the books in our collection were. In order for students to be motivated to visit the library ,there needs to be new materials that sparks an interest in the children. This is especially true for those students who are struggling to learn English, as well as develop their reading skills. Your donation has helped us modernized our library and has turned a whole new group of children onto the wonderful world of reading.

"Goosebumps" are extremely popular among my students. Your donation has generated a buzz about visiting our library and encouraged students who would not normally read for enjoyment to pick up a book.

On behalf of our whole school community, thank you for your generous donation and for believing in the importance of reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Israel
