A 2006 National Geographic-Roper Survey reveals that half of young Americans can't locate world powers like Japan and India. Twenty percent can't even find the Pacific Ocean. How can you take part in a global economy when you can’t find Japan or New York on a map? Without geography, our children are unprepared for our increasingly interconnected world. The My Wonderful World Campaign was created to address this issue. Led by the National Geographic Society and a coalition of national business and nonprofit organizations, My Wonderful World promotes public awareness and support to expand geography education. But learning about people and environments near to and far from home can be part of any class, not just social studies and geography. That’s why we’ve created this My Wonderful World Challenge to assist teachers of various subjects doing their part to provide students with knowledge of the world. Voice your support for the cause by helping to fund these innovative, geography-related projects! If you're a teacher and you would like to submit a project proposal to the My Wonderful World Challenge, send an email with the permalink to your Donors Choose-approved proposal to mywonderfulworld@ngs.org. hide
