I have found this wonderful organization! You can donate directly to a specific project that a teacher has asked for the materials for. I thought you might be interested so I'm e-mailing it to you. I have chosen 8 projects that I like, that I thought you might be interested in giving to. They are all from high poverty areas. I have found this wonderful organization! You can donate directly to a specific project that a teacher has asked for the materials for. I thought you might be interested so I'm e-mailing it to you. I have chosen 8 projects that I like, that I thought you might be interested in giving to. They are all from high poverty areas. One is from a teacher in a little town in the UP who is requesting calculators for her 5th grade class.(This request expires soon!) Another request is from a teacher in a school that is in the most southwestern corner of MI. She is requesting children's books about MI. They are nice books that all children who live in MI should have available to them. There is a request from a teacher in a little town on the western side of the state for a tape player and headphones so her kindergarten students can listen to stories on tape.(This request has a limited amount of time left to fund also.) Another request is from a high school teacher in a little town north of Tawas. She has students coming into her room requesting to borrow books for pleasure reading. She is especially excited because reading is not an interest most students have in that high school. There are many books on her list that my daughter loved reading. Another request is from a technology teacher in inner city Detroit who is requesting a laser printer to help with many school projects including making certificates of achievement as earned. Also selected is a 4th grade bilingual class in Detroit that is requesting age appropriate books on famous Americans. For the athletically inclined I picked a 5th grade class in Hart, MI (on the west side of the state which is where my maternal grandmother was from). They need playground equipment like balls, bases and jump ropes for their playground. Finally I chose a first grade class in Oakland County that is in need of early reading books. All of these teachers have identified a need and are requesting funds so these materials can be purchased for them. You can give any amount. The request stays active until it's fully funded within a specific time frame. All donations are tax deductible. If you have any questions just ask me! Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think might be interested. It is my hope that we can get all of these requests funded. Any help you can give would be great! Just click on the project to read the full request. Then you can click on the "project cost report" to see what the specific materials are that are being requested. For those that appreciate art, I added a 9th selection for art supplies for a kindergarten class in Detroit. It was just posted. How can you have a kindergarten class without art supplies??? For those interested in the field of science, I have added a new request from a 7th grade teacher in Detroit for hands on materials to help students learn about light and sound. That is the 10th request I've included. I will try to refrain from adding anymore unless all of these get funded!OK, being a social worker, I couldn't resist this new one from a school psychologist in Fowlerville who is trying to put together a "interventions library" of materials for classroom teachers to use as needed for interventions with children who are having problems. This is a moderate poverty school not high poverty. I think it's a great idea so I'm including it anyway!! Thanks so much! Enjoy checking them out!!! Tina hide
