I teach Second grade to 16 eager seven and eight year olds in a high poverty school in northern Alabama. The majority of my school is free and reduced lunch. Due to cut backs, we aren’t receiving any additional money for the next school year. Being that this is my first year of teaching, I am still in need of many things that many teachers already were able to buy themselves. In the end, my students take the heat for this. My students feel that school is some of the most enjoyable hours they spend each day. My goal is to make sure they feel loved and safe in the environment that I provide for them. I love making my lessons different each and every day. Using the same pencil and paper can get boring for kids, and me. I believe the more interesting that the lesson is, the more motivated the kids will be to do their best. I am asking for a classroom set of small dry erase boards, markers, erasers and an individual desk caddy. Students will love to be able to pull out their own dry erase board and marker to write math problems, sequences of a story, and even write the main ideas. I feel that this will benefit my students because having their own board gives them a sense of responsibility. I know that all students will enjoy using these for showing math facts, spelling words, and a variety of other ways. You will help my students by making learning fun for them! It is imperative that teachers find a fun way to teach and a fun way for students to learn. Students will feel empowered to do the very best they can. These boards, markers and erasers in their own caddy will let them feel special knowing that they can come to school having exceptional school supplies to work with. I’m very excited for them! Materials Needed: 20 dry erase boards, 60 small markers, 20 small erasers, and 20 desk caddies. The total for my materials is $470. hide
