As a fine arts and commercial photographer, I know well the power of photography to provide a fresh view of the world -- both for the photographer and the viewer. Children are not immune to that power. They often make very astute comments about photographs they see. When given a chance to use a camera, children can be lifted out of the everyday challenges they face. The images they create can also give others a fresh perspective. The two projects listed in this challenge would help teachers to expose their students to photography -- and enhance their learning at the same time. As a former teacher, I know that these projects can also help increase students' excitement for learning, as well as their achievement and self esteem. Here's my challenge: Donate to fund one or both of these worthy projects. If you make the largest donation, I will send you a framed copy of the image shown here, "Native Mask." This image creates a lot of excitement at my exhibitions. When you see it, picture this: the image came directly from reflections in a flooded parking lot at my apartment complex. The 'native guy' appeared in one half of the picture. Wanting to see him whole, we did just a bit of Photoshop magic to make the image symmetrical, then cropped the edges. Pop! Out came the Native-looking character. Please donate to this worthy cause and help these deserving kids experience the power of photography. We'll keep track of the donations.
