We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.
~ Sir Winston Churchill (1874 - 1965)
Dear Friends & Family-
I am often asked what I want for Christmas, and there are the obvious items such as a new Corvette, A Private Jet Plane, a Private Island, going fishing in the Seychelles, etc... then I come back down to earth!
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, because for whatever reason we feel we can give more, and do more for ... more
We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, because for whatever reason we feel we can give more, and do more for others. Unfortunately, it is seasonal, and a few days after Christmas, we tend to forget the joy of giving! One thing I have always tried to remember is that is always better to give than receive. So many of us are doing well and certainly better than many people across this country, not to mention the world! Many people feel that money &/or goods may be given to an undeserved person, I try to look at it as giving to humanity! We can all make a difference!
A few months ago, I came across this website and realized that there are a lot of kids across America (and the teachers who teach them) who need help with programs of all sorts. These children are the future of our country, and in some cases, the future of our world! Some are poor and some are not so poor. However, they all have one thing in common; they have teachers who are reaching out for help… help with resources (to further educate, engage, expose, and/or simply open the eyes of these kids to the world around them) because of financial issues their schools are experiencing.
So why am I sending you this email… that’s simple, if you’re considering getting me gift this year, and you would like to know what I want… I would like you to give a gift to these teachers and kids… nothing more! I have created this account to collect funds for the purpose of giving to these kids. If you were/are not interested in giving me a gift, I would encourage you to review the programs within this site and give what you can! Better yet, I would ask you to create your own challenge to those friends and loved ones around you.
I suppose in the end, we all want greener grass, sometimes we get it, some times we don’t! While we might not be able change the world directly, maybe, just maybe, one of these kids touched by this program can, because somebody… YOU, cared enough to help them! In the end, it is not what can do for ourselves, but what we can do to help others!
John Fisher
Kindness in words creates confidence.
Kindness in thinking creates profoundness.
Kindness in giving creates love.
~ Lao-Tzu (604 BC - 531 BC) hide
