Christmas Shakedown

Ignore those incessant December phone calls for donations! Give 10 or 20 bucks instead for students in trailers by the beautiful Back Bay!

They need ugly headphones and more good computers.

Donors Choose is a well-organized non-profit to help you target money like smart bombs to eminently lofty efforts, while slipping yourself a tax deduction with neither hassle nor pain. Already one of the three grants I've submitted has been fully funded.

The other two grants total $479, and $100 has already been donated. Toss a few of your dollars into the pot; you don't have to fund the entire challenge.

What's in it for you: dream fulfillment! Yes, you will see pictures of upstart teenagers wearing fat, ugly headphones (that'll teach 'em), and you will know that some government bureaucracy won't be paying excessive funds for computers, because you've funded an experiment to stretch the usefulness of new computers. You'll be a visonary! A benefactor! A leader! All for a few bucks.

Admittedly, this approach may be a bit unusual, but give it a try. The knowledge you get in this process may motivate you and the groups you normally support to try newer and better methods of reaching benefactors. Give a little through Donors Choose. Don't be shy. Thank you.
www.orangemath.blogspot.com hide
