At 8am on October 18th in Bar Harbor, Maine, I will begin running the first mile of the 26.2 miles that I hope to cover that day. Just 10 years ago, if you’d asked me if I would ever run a marathon, I would have laughed at you. Even this summer as I was training, I wasn’t sure if I’d make it through to the race.
But, here I am, about to start my first marathon.

I couldn’t have gotten to this point without help, and lots of it. Help from my friends Jen and Christine, who convinced me that it would be a fun challenge to undertake together. Help from those two and my friends Emilie and Lyne, who ran with me for so many miles of the long training runs, giving me inspiration to drag myself out of bed early (sometimes, very early) each Saturday morning, keeping me going through the tough miles, and listening to my incessant chatter :). Help from my husband Greg who, without complaint, got up with and entertained the kids each Saturday morning while I went out to run. Help from my kiddos Nick and Tim who willingly joined me on many "stroller rides" in the jogging stroller. Help from so many friends and family members, who upon learning what I was planning to do, offered so many kinds words of support and encouragement.

I couldn’t have gotten to this point with out help, and now, I’d like to be able to do the same for someone else. I would like to use my first marathon to raise money to help fund projects for classrooms in need here in Maine, and I would love your help.

Please consider supporting a classroom project from the list below, or any other project that interests you. Any amount of support helps these classrooms get closer to their goal. Thank you!
hide
