Schools depend on their property tax base for revenue but with people out of work and homes being foreclosed upon, public schools are more underfunded than ever. I live and work in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina but we have public schools two miles from my lab that are having trouble providing opportunities to kids. Remember, these kids are our future scientists or, at the very least, citizens who understand the importance of science in daily life. One of the projects we've adopted here is to simply provide students with paper, pens, and pencils that they lack in their district. This is wrong; sick, even. People helped me when I was a little kid (see my pic with PharmDad) become the scientist and professor I am today. Won't you help today's kids in need? If not here, perhaps on another blogger's challenge in an area of the country that resonates with you? The PharmFamily and I thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. hide
