My students come from a wide assortment of the cultural, economic and social backgrounds that exist in an inner city school in Northern California. Many walk in the first day with little to no supplies. But they all walk in with the desire to learn and succeed. Many face situations outside of school that would test the resolve of many adults, yet even at their young age they face these challenges with the poise of future leaders. Time and time again, when they are asked what they hope to gain from my class, they respond with the sentiment that they wish to learn something new and enhance their general understanding of science and the world around them. Though many of my students lack education support outside of school, they still show up on time everyday ready to work, with positive (inspirational) attitudes.
