Welcome to my Giving Page! Please consider contributing to the donation of a SMART Board to my classroom! I team teach with Stephanie Brueggen. We teach Kindergarten in a high-poverty, high needs community. We are in great need of a SMART Board for our Kindergarten students. Next year our Kindergarten students will be faced with a large learning challenge. Because we are a low income school district, following under the state of Wisconsin’s SAGE program, we normally have 15 students in a classroom. But, because of a lack of space at our school, we will have two classes of students (28-32 students) combined in one small classroom. This creates some disadvantages due to many more students, space issues, and limited materials. This SMART Board would enable us to conserve space by doing our calendar math, morning meeting and large group instruction from the SMART Board. This would engage students visually and kinesthetically, even those in the back. There are many other reasons a SMART Board would be advantageous to our Kindergarten students. Technology is a great asset to student learning. Integrating new equipment into students learning on a consistent basis helps prepare them for a successful future in today’s technological world. With a SMART Board, our Kindergarteners would be able learn through not only visual instruction, but auditory and kinesthetic simultaneously! In using the SMART Board, students are able to manipulate and interact directly with the instructional material. This is not often possible without this wonderful technology because of limited print resources and copy budgets. SMART Boards have proven to be a great motivator in the classroom and a great way to provide academic intervention. We would be able to use this SMART Board to work with small groups of struggling learners in accordance with the federally mandated RTI (Response to Intervention) program. Further, we would use this SMART Board to enrich our excelling gifted and talented students with this exciting technology. We are asking for a SMART Board interactive whiteboard with attached projector (unifi 55 projector) and external speaker system. The total cost would be $3400. hide
