Future Physicians We Will Need!!!

My project needs a class set of 20 lab coats to participate in a simulation where the students become doctors and study medicine.

This project is fully funded

I teach in a public school in Louisiana. I teach sixth, seventh, and eighth grade gifted and talented students. The students are given one class period a day to develop skills and interests they may not be able to develop in a regular education classroom. I am about to begin one of the most powerful hands-on lessons the students learn. It is a simulation where the students must learn about the human body, teach one another what they learn, and then take boards! I want the experience to come alive for the students! Once they pass their boards, they will become "official" doctors and will be given a certificate to indicate their induction. I would also like to provide a lab coat for each student to wear so they will experience the transition from medical student to doctor, where now each doctor will take on a specialty and will work in clinics to solve "medical mysteries." This lesson has proved to ignite an interest in medicine that I believe no textbook could ignite. Most of our students, years later, say they would like to go into the medical profession because of the hands-on experience they receive. Please give my students the opportunity to make this experience even more meaningful than it has been in the past. I wholeheartedly believe they will wear the lab coats with excitement and that the provision of lab coats will aid in creating an unforgettable learning experience.
