This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love how creative, bold, and determined my students are. Despite limited resources, they show up with heart, imagination, and a strong desire to express themselves through the arts. Our spring musical, Little Shop of Horrors, is an opportunity for them to shine on stage, build confidence, and work collaboratively toward something bigger than themselves.This project will provide essential materials like yarn to create twisting vines, flower pots to transform our stage into a lively florist shop, canvas shoes for costume design, and glue, paint, and brushes to bring the set and props to life.

From crafting Audrey II to designing vibrant set pieces and assembling dynamic costumes, these materials will help bring their vision to life on stage.

My goal is to give students a true theatrical experience that mirrors professional productions. These resources won’t just support our musical, they’ll offer hands-on opportunities for students to explore set design, costume creation, stage management, and performance. For many, this will be their first time performing or working behind the scenes, and it gives them a safe space to take risks, discover new talents, and celebrate their voices, literally and figuratively.

What makes my students so special is their resilience and passion. They bring joy, humor, and an incredible sense of community to everything they do. With your support, they’ll not only see their ideas come to life but also realize the power of their creativity, collaboration, and self-expression.
