Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In today’s world, coding and engineering are deeply interconnected. Many technological advancements—from smart devices to automated systems — rely on embedded programming. My students are eager to learn coding, but they need a practical, engaging way to see how their code translates into real-world applications. Currently, our classroom lacks dedicated tools for physical computing, limiting students to screen-based coding exercises.

Microbits bridge this gap by offering a tangible way for students to program and immediately see the results of their work.

With built-in sensors, LEDs, and wireless communication capabilities, Microbits allow students to create a wide range of interactive projects, from digital thermometers to motion-activated alarms. Having a class set would ensure that every student gets hands-on experience in programming and problem-solving, reinforcing their learning through experimentation and iteration.

Having access to microbits kits would be a long-term investment, benefiting multiple classes year after year. As students gain confidence in programming, they can mentor younger students, fostering a culture of peer learning and innovation.
