My students need backpacks fully stocked with school supplies, including writing utensils, composition notebooks, paper, binders, and USB flash drives.
My school draws very largely from coastal neighborhoods of Brooklyn, including Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Sheepshead Bay as well as from Staten Island.
Our school is a Title I School in Brooklyn, New York.
Our students are hard working, motivated, and kind. Unfortunately, however, for many of their families I expect that it will be nearly impossible to replace basic school supplies lost in the storm.
My Project
I am trying to create 6 fully stocked backpacks with the supplies our students will need. I've requested backpacks (the only ones I could find on Donors Choose come with bats - I will pass these along to our baseball team), folders, binders, USB Flash Drives, writing utensils, and other basic supplies that our students cannot do without.
For the families affected by Hurricane Sandy, the process of rebuilding their lives is going to be long and costly.
Let's do what we can to share the burden so their kids can succeed in school.
